Track: Keep Pushin’ On Inaya Day (ATFC and Yousef Remixes)
Label: Peppermint Jam
Some who are old enough or who frequently listen to Fresh FM would know this massive track from around 1996. The “original version by Boris Dlugosch came out on labels including Peppermint Jam and Manifesto and featured the vocals of Inaya Day. Ms Day, who featured on Harry Romero’s “I Will on Subliminal as well as many other tracks, is “listed as the artist on this re-release for 2003-2004 on Peppermint Jam. It would appear that this was merely done to differentiate the 2003 version from the 1996 version. Mr Dlugosch.
The Yousef Remix stays true to and sound very much like the original, with only minor changes to the arrangement. The difference between Yousef’s mix and the original is that Yousef has taken advantage of developments in music production technology, with his version having tougher beats, fatter bass and generally clear top end. Those who have rinsed the original and killed their vinyl in the process or who have not been able to get a hold of the original look no further - Yousef has provided a great replacement.
The ATFC remix is truly that; with very little other than the original vocals being used. There’s a very long intro (2mins?) for those who love to do lengthy and technical mixes with tough beats and teasing vocals that leads into a groovy bass line and the first breakdown. What ATFC provides is an awesome hands-in-the-air “happy house track that is by no means cheesy and with great production. The remainder of the tracks keeps the vibe, with interesting usage of a “bit crusher (giving a slowing vinyl effect), great arrangement, different, clever and long main breakdown (that lets u mix out at this stage if u choose), and an awesome outro that would please any DJ who loves to keep long key mixes going. An all round wicked remix. Well done Aydin.
