The first ever House Music Awards were held in London on Thursday 4 November 2004. The venue was Neighbourhood, Ben Watt's brand new venue. Categories included Best DJ, Best Album & Track of the Year, as well as Most Innovative Producer, Breakthrough Label and Breakthrough DJ.

Label of the Year went to Defected;
DJ of the Year went to Roger Sanchez;
Artist of the Year went to Junior Jack;and
Track of the Year was Lola's Theme: Shapeshifters.
