Title: Tribal Experience
Artist: Frank O’Moiraghi & Jonathan Meyer (Jesse Garcia Tribal Spain Remixes)
I must be honest. Tribal Spain is one of my favourite labels. Tribal Spain operates under Vendetta, which is a label which has had some massive house tracks (“Shake It by Lee-Cabrera!) and some other not so massive and odd tracks. Jesse Garcia can do no wrong at the moment. This track is his best to date and I have been waiting a long time for a track like this to come out!
Sounding little like the original (which is a good solid percussive house track) the Jesse Garcia Tribal Spain Remixes of “Tribal Experience are quite simply amazing. Typifying everything that a percussive house sax track should be, this track is guaranteed to work on the floor. The first time I heard an MP3 sample of this track I thought it was great. The first time I played it at home it was even better. The first time I dropped it stole the floor. It is one of the tracks that has an infectious groove that will attract even those who are not normally into this style of (house) music.
The reason this track works is simple. The beats are nice and tough. The bassline, not typical of “house basslines, is very fast and staccato and rolls very nicely. The sax is used in two main ways. The first sax line works off the bassline to create a rhythmic effect, similar to what a rhythm guitar does in most rock/pop tracks. The screaming lead sax line is then free to create the hooks and grabs to the track, which it does just nicely. The mixes have good solid production and arrangement, and is very energetic. In fact it is difficult to mix and slip this track into a set given that whatever follows this track will probably not match it! The differences between the mixes is that the vocal mixes uses a semi sung-spoken diva vocal in the breakdowns which is missing in a couple of the dub breakdowns. The only uneasiness I have regarding this track is the lead sax, twice in the track, uses a hook that sounds very much like “Tequila! that said, what a wikkid track!
