Title: Mine
Artist: ATFC & Inaya Day

Before getting in to review this track, a mention should be made of the smart way this package is presented. Although one may purchase the vinyl on its own, one may also seek to purchase the vinyl complete with an additional CD. The vinyl contains the main vocal (signified by the female symbol) and the harder dub (signified by the male symbol). In addition to these two mixes, the CD contains a harder vocal mix and a mix that a has a slightly break-ier funk style similar to what one would expect from Mousse T or Boris Dlugosch. The CD also contains two accapellas and a bunch of parts from the tracks (beats, bassline, sweeps, effects etc) that allows one to create their own remix! Pretty cool.

All the mixes are what we expect from Aydin. Awesome production, well arranged and good solid effects, hooks, keys and beats and all versions are uplifting and energetic. Nothing sensational in terms of whether the tracks stands out from the plethora of tracks available generally, but “Mine is still a solid package that will sit nicely in record bags/boxes or at home and it works well on the floor (of a club or at home!). I suspect that the vocal mix (female) will be rinsed the most: nice garage feel with spot one vocals from Inaya Day. The main hook to this track is the bassline, with obvious similarities to the funk classic “To Be Real. The vocal chorus aint half bad either!

The Harder Vocal and Dub mixes suit the larger club type environment and do well on the floor, the harder vocal mix sitting nicely in tribal/deeper/tougher club sets. Those who are on the ball who have been playing the tougher versions of “Rescue Me and “2 Make Things Alright by Whitseide will realise that “Mine will slip nicely into such a set.

The break-ier mix is probably more aligned to the lounge/ bar setting, with as mentioned above, a really nice funk edge that is being used by Mousse T and Boris Dlugosch on occasions. A slightly g-roovy and swanky feel to the mix that still maintains a club edge.
